Post RN BScN Programme

With the goal of enhancing the nursing profession following the Registered Nurse (RN) programme and raising the status of women, Aga Khan University School of Nursing (AKU-SON) established Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BScN) programme, the first of its kind in Pakistan. The Post RN BScN is a two year programme, which provides experienced registered nurses prepared at the diploma level, an opportunity to acquire in depth knowledge and skills. On September 25, 1988, the BScN programme was formally inaugurated by Mir Wazir Ahmed Jogezai, then Minister of Education, Government of Pakistan.

Upon completion of the Programme, nurses are prepared to utilise effective critical thinking and problem solving skills in order to bring about changes in nursing education, management and practice in any setting.

Admission

Admissions to the Post RN BScN programme for the year 2009 are now open. Applications for admissions will be accepted until February 19, 2009. Applications received after the closing date will not be processed.

BScN Programme 

The BScN Programme began in 1997 with 31 students from all over Pakistan.  This is a four year programme leading to eligibility for licensure as an Registered Nurse (RN) and simultaneous attainment of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. It is the only programme of its kind in Pakistan.  It consolidates the foundations of knowledge, skill and attitude needed to practice nursing and is designed to prepare clinically competent professional nurses. Upon graduation, students will be able to demonstrate responsibility and accountability to the nursing profession

Admission

Admissions to the MScN programme for the year 2009 are now open. Applications for admissions will be accepted until February 20, 2009. Applications received after the closing date will not be processed.

MScN Programme

The graduate studies in nursing programme will prepare graduates who, in their practice of nursing, are able to meet the following objectives.  These objectives address the six domains of practice for advanced practice nurses.
