AGA KHAN FOUNDATION U.S.A: SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM 2010
Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A. (AKF USA) seeks two Summer Interns to work at its Washington, D.C. office.
AKF USA is an international not-for-profit organization that seeks sustainable solutions to long-term problems of poverty, hunger, illiteracy and ill-health with special emphasis on the needs of rural communities in mountainous, coastal and other resource-poor areas primarily in Africa and Central Asia. AKF USA is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKDN agencies have been internationally recognized for their innovative work in cultural restoration and rural development.
According to their interests and qualifications, interns will be placed in either AKF USAs Program/Strategic Partnerships or Communications/Resource Development department for a 10 week period (start date is flexible but internship should end no later than September). The Program Department will expose interns to AKF USAs international development programs, while the Communications/Resource Development Department will give interns experience in domestic fundraising and volunteer management.
Communications/Resource Development Department interns may support department staff in preparing marketing and communication materials, managing relations with volunteers, conducting volunteer trainings, and updating and developing presentations, project briefs, brochures and donor letters relating AKF USA activities to the public.
Interns may also have the opportunity to participate in external professional development trainings as part of their internship and may attend AKF USA PartnershipsInAction fundraising activities. Additionally, interns will receive round trip airfare from the place of recruitment (within the United States) and a monthly stipend of $1,700.
