Aga Khan University – School of Nursing Celebrates 29th Lamp Lighting Ceremony

May 24 2010; Karachi: Aga Khan University School of Nursing is holding its 29th Lamp Lighting Ceremony. The Lamp Lightning Ceremony is a symbolic tribute to Rufayda Al Aslamiya, the first Muslim nurse and to Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of the nursing profession. As a symbol of their promise to care for the sick, nursing students light a lamp and recite a pledge.

Close to 100 nursing students from the second year Diploma in Nursing and BScN programmes will take part in this year’s ceremony. Marriana Karim, Chairperson, Friends of Kidney Centre has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest.
