TOTALS TALLIED, COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR WORLD PARTNERSHIP WALK SALUTED
OTTAWA, June 15th, 2010 – The 26th annual World Partnership Walk organized by Aga Khan Foundation Canada and its national network of volunteers, on Sunday, June 13th, raised just over $200,000 in Ottawa to help fight global poverty. Local organizers of the Walk expressed heartfelt congratulations for an outstanding community effort by more than 1000 participants who came out to be part of the solution to global poverty. The funds they raised (100%) will go entirely toward development projects in some of the poorest areas of Asia and Africa.
“The unparalleled support shown today across the country – both from individuals and corporations – is an indication of the bond Canadians feel with communities in the developing world”, said Karim Kanji, Convenor of the Walk in Ottawa.
The Walk is an initiative of Aga Khan Foundation Canada, an organization that supports development in the poorest countries without regard to faith, origin or gender.
