Aga Khan University, Pakistan: Health Camps 2010

Health camps offering free medical checkups and advice will be run in different areas of Karachi by Aga Khan University alumni tomorrow, December 23.

Day-long health camps will be set up in Karimabad, Federal B Area; Bilal Colony, Korangi; Sultanabad, and the New Sabzi Mandi areas, offering visitors an opportunity to check their blood pressure, weight, BMI and blood glucose levels. People will also be offered health education, that is, information about basic hygiene practices and how to protect oneself from infectious diseases such as malaria, dengue and pneumonia.

Visitors will also be offered a chance to speak to a mental health counsellor, who will screen for depression and offer advice on how to manage stress, one of the main causes of depression.

Every year, AKU alumni offer free medical and education services to communities as part of their reunion celebrations.
